Upgrade It
When a business expands there are many aspects to consider. These considerations include whether existing drainage could cope with the planned expansion and also whether water supply would be adequate. Drainstore has been approached by its customers for guidance on these types of issues many times. Sometimes these requests come as part of a planning application, and sometimes because of a potential overloading on a sewage plant caused by an
increase in staff.
It is now possible to avoid the removal of an existing sewage system and simply upgrade it. This option can save thousands of pounds.
We have recently successfully completed an upgrade at one of Britain’s top Health Spas, Hoar Cross Hall in Staffordshire, where due to continued expansion, the old sewage system had reached the end of its useful working life. In conjunction with the opening of the new Eden Day Spa, Drainstore and its parent company MPC Services (UK) Limited were called in to design and construct a new waste water treatment system that not only treated the sewage, but was also able to cope with the large amounts of massage oil discharged into the drains by the
Health Club.
After considering all the design briefs, a new system was constructed using 50,000 litres of sludge storage in underground chemical chambers to cool and float out the oils. A further 36,000 litres of buffer zone was also installed. Finally, the mechanics of the existing storage system were removed and replaced with a series of German made Aqua-Max systems connecting the old rotating drum system into a state-of-the-art sequential batch reactor. This unit is the largest of its kind in the UK, and one of the largest in the world. This ensured our customer not only obtained the latest technology within the new plant, but also saved almost 40% on the replacement cost of the existing system. Most units can be retro-fitted to existing tanks and filterbed systems, and coupled with our 5-year fixed-price Maintenance Contract with Telemetry back-up, gives complete peace of mind.
