Drainstore economy rainwater harvesting systems![]() Our rainwater harvesting systems have been developed to accommodate and support the ever increasing pressure we are applying to our water supply and in turn our environment. In the U.K. over 99% of homes and businesses are provided with fully treated (potable) water. Potable water is predominantly supplied via a water meter which can be costly if water is used in applications where large quantities of water are required. In many parts of the country hosepipe bans are now common place. The use of water for many daily tasks is certainly taken for granted and we are using potable treated water for all these tasks which is a costly and sometimes a rare resource. When for the cost of installing a rainwater harvesting system we could be using our own god given rainwater that pours onto our roof areas in abundance. ![]() 50,000 litres per annum of water and over 50% of this (shown in black) is used in applications where rainwater could be re-used. For example on gardens and for washing vehicles. However the main area of saving for your potable supply is the simple flushing of your WC’s and to a lesser degree your washing machine. DRAINSTORE offer two Rainwater Harvesting Systems Economy Range featured on this page Ultra Range featured on the opposite page Economy Range Above & Underground Models (350 to 6000 litres capacity) Our base level entry model is our Garden Imp. It has an option of a basic rainwater diverter from your roof or a rainwater filter. This connects into a high strength polyethylene sump which features a child proof lid. Inside the sump is a durable pump which has a water level float which will ensure the system only provides water when the sump has an adequate water level. The Imp comes with a standard hozelock fitting at the top of the unit and 10m of hose. The Imp is a cost engineered low pressure system only adequate for watering your garden and not for use with pressure washers. It is suitable for small gardens and yards The main Economy range shown opposite features both Above and Underground systems. Both ranges have a primary filter unit, special three phase pump and our innovative Easypress system. The Easypress will not activate the pump if the sump water level is to low, which prevents pump burn out. This is a major problem in cheaper rainwater harvesting systems. Some of the many applications we have supplied the Economy model other than general use around the home and garden is for vehicle wash bays, bus depots and transport companies, tack rooms and stable blocks, golf courses, farms, garden centres and horticultural centres. The Economy range features single sump applications, however multiple sumps can be connected together for much larger volume’s if required, as shown opposite. ![]() ![]()
