Drainstore underground rainwater harvesting system
The Ultra system is our top of the range harvesting system designed to be installed underground only. Unlike the Economy range the Ultra can be used to recycle your rainwater for use in the home for flushing toilets for your washing machines as well as outside in the garden.
As shown in the main illustration at the base of the page the Ultra system initially treats the rainwater from your roof with a high specification vortex filter (1) this filters out all significant impurities that are suspended in the rainwater from the roof before entering the storage tank. On entering the tank the water is settled out via a stainless steel stilling diffuser (2) located at the bottom of the inlet pipe, this calms the ingression of rainwater into the tanks, so not disturbing any algae or silt build up that may have developed at the bottom of the tank.
In the centre of the tank is the main recycling pump (3) which features a high level suction operation that supplies only the cleanest of water within the tank. A ball float suspends a stainless steel sieve filter which draws off a cleaner high level of water just below the surface. The outlet on the tank features a unique patented non return overflow unit (4) which allows rainwater to overflow from the tank into the main drain, any back pressure or back up from the main drain is trapped and prevented from entering the tank as the ball inside seals against the top face of the unit with back pressure. The stored rainwater within the tank is distributed to the required appliances in your home via the main recycling pump in the tank (3). In the event that the water level in the tank is not sufficient to supply the system, then a secondary float switch within the tank signals to a Pump Control Unit (5) which is sited inside your premises. The Control Unit includes a tank water level gauge as illustrated. The the Control Unit automatically shuts down the pump in the tank when the solenoid on the Top Up Assembly(6) opens. This then allows the mains water supply to top up the tank. A manual isolating valve is included with the top up assembly so as the system can be closed down for manually for maintenance the tundish attached to the provides a type AA air gap in compliance to water regulations.
